So, how much is a stick of butter? In Sweden butter comes in 500 g packages, which seems a bit much. Luckily the first answer in google is a butter converter. Who'd have thought that?

OK, I should have been more precise. A Jordanian stick of butter is 100g. I assume the American one is different because they still haven't converted to the metric system. They will. They will come and join us and we will welcome them to the light...

Oh, I assumed Canada was the same as US in this case, didn't even think of Jordan. A USian butterstick weighs (supposedly) 4 ounces, which is the same as 113g, which is close enough. I'm not even up to date on whether Canada is metric or not. :-O

It is metric :) but imperial measurements are widely understood, so Canada is bilingual this way too. To the best of my knowledge the USA is the only country still using the imperial system of measurement

The UK seems to have a bit of a mixed feeling about the metric vs the imperial system. They're still measuring distance in miles and speed in miles per hour. And if you buy beers they're 568 ml which would be an odd measure if it wasn't the same as a pint. Our british members could probably make a much longer list if they felt like it. I personally love the old monetary system of UK.

"NOTE FOR YOUNG PEOPLE AND AMERICANS: One shilling = Five Pee. It helps to understand the antique finances of the Witchfinder Army if you know the original British monetary system:

Two farthings = One Ha'penny. Two ha'pennies = One Penny. Three pennies = A Thrupenny Bit. Two Thrupences = A Sixpence. Two Sixpences = One Shilling, or Bob. Two Bob = A Florin. One Florin and one Sixpence = Half a Crown. Four Half Crowns = Ten Bob Note. Two Ten Bob Notes = One Pound (or 240 pennies). One Pound and One Shilling = One Guinea.

The British resisted decimalized currency for a long time because they thought it was too complicated."

Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman, Good Omens

And then they forgot about the Groat (4d)

The Hindus are vegetarians. Vegan is a bullshit concept, which goes against evolution (we start by feeding on breast milk, right?) Jains are vegetarians, and they additionally avoid root vegetables (beetroot, carrot, etc.,). Their philosophy is that the plant is being destroyed in order to obtain such vegetables, so that's a life taken, which is equivalent to killing an animal to them. So, a typical Jain will see onion like he sees meat, but he'll happily consume milk, because no life is harmed or destroyed in the extraction of milk. Sikhs are vegetarians too. There are also Eggatarians, who are vegetarians, but additionally consume eggs.

I'm ultra insanely good, thanks. And I know you're doing good too because here you are, talking about food. :)
