End of the Weekend / Visual Studio 11
-
So today is the last day of the weekend. The end of another 3 weeks home, which has consisted of cr@p weather, mountains of OU study inc. 2 papers, and a couple of cracking nights out. Anyway, as I was preparing to leave, I noticed Visual Studio 2011 preview and .Net 4.5 preview have been posted on MSDN subscriber downloads this morning. Currently downloading to take with me, and have a play over the next couple of weeks. Anybody installed it yet? any gotchas? Will it kill my lappy and leave me without anything for 2 weeks?

It's a pre-Beta. It's a Microsoft pre-Beta. That's like saying "We got the office trainee to start on it" in any other company. Personally, I would rather dig my own kidneys out with rusty spoons than install anything I'm not very sure of if I was heading for a couple of weeks surrounded by the North sea!

I know, but given them some credit, things have been 'getting' better..........at least going by their betas of win7 and VS2010, so maybe their pre-beta's are getting better as well. Ok, i'll get the rusty spoons for you.

Apparently it can be installed "side-by-side" with VS2010, see here[^] but as some others have said, VM's are your friend.

Well general availability is not until Friday so I will expect you to have posted a full report before then.
