Anyone played with VS 11 preview yet
-
There used to be a time when people here where very enthusiastic about new releases (even the preview releases). The lounge was usually flooded with posts about that release. Now I do not see that anymore. For instance, there has been no post about VS11 preview and not many about Windows 8. I can think of few things:- 1. People here are getting old and tired to try new stuff. 2. People have lost their enthusiasm on Microsoft software. 3. Microsoft is not releasing good quality beta/preview versions 4. There are not enough new and compelling things in the new releases.

That's because everyone that's tried it are still waiting for VS2011 to finish starting up.

I think the average Lounger is not as nerdy as he used to be 5-6 years ago. If you look at the guys who left (Shog, Stone, Jeremy, Coling Angus, Delahunty, Jambo Johnson, Tom Archer, and many others), they are all the types who'd have been ripping it out on the alpha and beta releases.

4. There are not enough new and compelling thing sin new releases. You have forgotten 5. All of the above. :) I've become pretty cynical about new releases, but I did like the link in Nish's post. I think it succintly covers all that needs to be said. :)

Pfff no time, haven't even installed 2010 yet (still on 2008) so if I got no time for that I certainly don't have time for a pre release version. But you'r right, I used to be one of those that was among the first to test such things, not anymore tho.

I tried installing Win8-64 with the dev tools and the Win8-32 without tools on a virtual image using Virtual PC, VirtualBox, and VMWare Workstation and they all crashed on install. Kinda puts me off it if I can't install it and test. I could put a new drive in my desktop, but come on... they had to of known that we would be using virtual images for testing this stuff out. I did not download the VS11 tools only yet. Too busy making phone apps in my spare time.

I can't get my application to compile on VS2010 (multiple reasons); and I think our MSDN registration is over.
Watched code never compiles.
