Here. Compares spacehips (size, energy output) from science fiction. All except for the Death Star, as it dwarfs the others in size. Surprisingly, V'Ger is one of the biggest (guess they aren't measuring the original build size).

That is way too cool, the Millennium Falcon smaller than the shuttle? Never would've thought it. [No Hitchiker's Guide ships though? Heart of Gold? :( ]

Good to see Kosh represented there, but I had no idea the Drakh ship was bigger.

Proud to have finally moved to the A-Ark. Which one are you in?

Shorter, perhaps, but remember it is round, so probably a bigger volume.

A phone booth does not count as a ship. That, and nobody can agree on the dimensions. :)

Apart from the ships from Battlestar Galactica you mean? And also, a Tardis contains an entire set of extra dimensions. Although Dalek Motherships are huge, and the Crucible is Death Star sized.

http://youtu.be/awRr55oEHPg[^] Yeah, the shuttle was built to carry cargo up there so living space in the Falcon must be greater. I just looked up clips and can see how short it is now. Strange how ones forms an idea of the size of something they've only seen on film, in 2 dimensions.

Both, it is capable of traveling away from Earth (how else would The Doctor have gotten to Earth to begin with?), as well as moving to different locations on Earth's surface. Besides traveling through time from Earth to Earth requires a change in spatial location, as the Earth itself is moving and traveling to the same spot in space through time could leave you above the Earth, inside it, on the opposite side of the Sun, etc.

I'd love to see some other 'classic' sci fi films in there, how about the ship from forbidden planet, dark star, the valley forge etc.

But, does the TARDIS itself actually move? I always saw it as the inside was in a separate space-time dimension, and the only thing actually moving is the 'doorway' (the blue box). The ride is bumpy sometimes because of the energy involved in moving the doorway can 'recoil' and shake the rest of the TARDIS, but the inside doesn't exist in the same 3D space as the doorway. The 'blue box' is a gateway to a different dimension.

The world is going to laugh at you anyway, might as well crack the 1st joke! Have you tried turning it off and on again? Have you tried forcing an unexpected reboot?

The Arodnap (in "the Zany Time Travels of Warble McGorkle") is quite possibly on the opposite end of the spectrum; it is basically a "Jetson" craft with VTOL capabilities; not large, not powerful, no weapons.
