How you get time for your family and friends? what i observed is that most of programmer's spend there time in office and even they go back home still they spend there remaining time on computer. please ignore my English mistake's ;P
Did you said family? friends? I feel nerd when I realize I have to get over it. I was recommended a book 'Eat That frog' recently . Hope it helps me.

You mean the social life of computer nerds. I am an engineer. Work is work, life is life, and I have plenty of time for my family and friends (and my hobbies). In fact in my experience computer nerds make the worst engineers. They are incapable of cutting corners to get a prodduct out the door.

I try to find hobbies that don't involve technology so I'm not tempted to check my messages, code, etc.

That's easy... unplugged yourself.... Don't use your computer at Home, it's a real deal... the reward is amazing, trust me

I agree completely! Having social life can actually improve performance at work when it comes to dealing with people and solving problems. In my case is that I overuse my social life and can't focus on personal projects for some extra income. Oh well, I'm happy.

That's why I'm always in the office for work and do not work from home. Office is work. Home is family and hobbies(the minor bit of computing and NO programming!).

Worth a 5 right there... I am sure both my co-workers and manager find it odd I never exercise my work from home option. But I like keeping "work" out of the home as much as possible.
