My advice - follow your inspiration, never do anything purely for the money unless you need to maintain a roof over your head and eat. And most importantly - find enjoyment in your career - it's going to be at least one third of your life for the rest of your working life... :)

Yeah, you don't want to end up like Sir John Betjeman. (We stopped a few minutes walk from his grave on holiday this year.)

So basically we are all in it for the money, unless you are an alien that doesn't need to eat. :)

I would say the two biggest things you will need are a thick skin and english lessons. But that's just my opinion.

Purchasing some F18 would be probably necessary. :)

Learn as much as you can about more than just the technology you are going to be working with. Listen and learn, and remember that the clients requirements may not make sense to you at the start. If they don't question them and get an understanding of what the client wants. Don't just deliver the bare minimum to satisfy the requirements - actually take the time to try to make your application robust. Most importantly, ask questions. If you have a task, make sure you understand it thoroughly and that you think through the implications before you start it. Good luck in your career.
