More accurately, benefitting from someone else's misfortune is *human* nature. It's in our genes, and it doesn't matter what country you're from, so stick your elitist anti-American bullsh*t up your ass.

My company hasn't said anything about them, as far as I've noticed... But my coworkers talk about them now and then, mostly just trying to figure them out. Personally, I think it's excellent. If I didn't have a day job, I'd probably be down there with them... During the day, at least... I'm not crazy enough to sleep in a public square (A small one, at that). I stopped by there once a week ago Saturday, and it was pretty cool to see.

Apparently telling the truth about your country and things around you earns a 1 when you disagree with them. I don't know what Chris bothered with voting on posts. I was really looking to hear what you'd experienced at your company since I knew you worked for a hedge fund company or something like that. Thanks. I support what they're doing to. The trouble is anytime someone talks about how Americans screw people in other countries or each other for the all mighty buck they get there panties in a bunch.

You must be slow or something - EVERY human has this trait, REGARDLESS of what country they call home. It's a matter of survival, and goes a lot farther back in human history than 1776. In fact, it goes all the way back before the discovery of fire. It's most definitely NOT restricted to the U.S.

Well profiting from other people's pain is the American way after all. After all narcissism is running about as prevalent as religion and is about as useful.

I find it more useful to look for another day job. I think the organizers forgot how fucking cold it gets in our major financial centers (NY / Chicago) These won't last past December.

Then you must not see any difference in our country from one time to another. History is all fine and good, but the present and future matter more. We at the present have the obligation and duty to the future of our species to create or start the correct paths for all of us to get along and prosper in. Succumbing to basest of our traits is not the thing to do or excuse. If that was the case parents would never teach their kids to crap in a toilet rather than a bush. We have the capacity to teach ourselves the difference and bring ourselves out of the uncivilized behavior that still makes us uncivilized. I don't appreciate the barbarians who make excuses to stay stupid. Since this is our country we have to change it.

Yes, as an American that bugs me too. I always use "I could care less" to be a snarky way of saying "I care, but if you don't stop annoying me, I'll stop caring". I wonder if that's what wizard meant by sarcasm. I liked your link below which also led me to "beg the question". I've been confused for many years about what that phrase actually meant because of the different ways in which it was used and hence avoided using it. Now I know. So thanks for the link. But I think I will use the more appropriate turns of phrase instead.
