I guess this explains why Google has facial recognition unlock in the Android 4.0 release... Smart move.

Yeah, which at the demo failed to unlock when the person tried unlocking his own phone, but then unlocked with a different person! Facial recognition...so, what happens if I shave my beard? What happens when I hold up a picture of the person instead? I'm quite happy to punch in my access code. I don't want no stinkin' facial recognition that my cat could use to unlock my phone! Marc

Explain that one! I think Apple, Microsoft and Google between them are becoming the most obnoxious patent trolls since Marconi. Here's the patent[^] if you should care.

Someone got a patent for "a method to thermally refresh bread". Basically you expose it to some heat and poof it becomes tastier. That's right, someone got a patent for toast. Something we've been making for thousands of years.

Beer? Did you say beer? Forget the suit. Let's just go drinking. Unless someone patented that. (Actually, I had a friend in college who might have the patent on drinking beer.)

We need to take all the software patents and apply liberal amounts of cleansing fire to them. Throw in a few lawyers logs for even burning.

Actually, I don't think it was obvious until they came up with it. Can anyone point to this tech being used before Apple did? It is definitely brilliant, as illustrated by how pervasive it has become. But the bottom line is that someone invented it.

Need custom software developed? I do custom programming based primarily on MS tools with an emphasis on C# development and consulting. I also do Android Programming as I find it a refreshing break from the MS. "And they, since they Were not the one dead, turned to their affairs" -- Robert Frost

Yes, the Palm had it in 2008. Apple applied for a patent in 2009. Hopefully this one will be overturned.

Yes, it's like patenting using the keyboard in order to use a PC that has a keyboard. But, this is the patent office's MO right now. They just approve whatever garbage they see rather than getting people who might know what the hell they're talking about to look at it. It's cheaper that way. It doesn't help that patent lawyers intentionally word patent applications to be as confusing as possible, to the point that you need the rosetta stone to figure out what the **** they're even talking about.

Ugh...my netbook has that but it's slow and requires the right lighting conditions...faster to type the password incorrectly twice, then get it right on the third try...
