Apart from being rather dull, it isn't even accurate. One glaring example: FORTRAN. 1954-1958? Nope, there was a significant revision in FORTRAN IV in '62, some structured programming elements were added in FORTRAN 77, and FORTRAN 90 in 1992 gave longer names, pointers, and loads of other features.

Yep, they were still teaching FORTRAN when I was in college which wasn't too long ago (relatively). I imagine there's still old systems operating using FORTRAN.

well that's not even close to true.
Yeah, there are still tons of stuff that C cannot do. Specially with respect to GPUs and accessing specific registers.

Yep, they were still teaching FORTRAN when I was in college which wasn't too long ago (relatively). I imagine there's still old systems operating using FORTRAN.
:sigh: I have a date with some fortran tonight. Not to nitpick, but fortran has nothing to do with the OS. Oh wait, I'm in the lounge - I do mean to nitpick ;)

I see... :laugh: Dyslexia can be a tricky beast... ;P Meant old systems... I'm an engineer, so they used to teach it because power systems were managed using Fortran... don't know if they still are but they were back then...
