Depending on your video source you may experience a little static, in which case I have had luck running it the through Windows Movie Maker (I know, I know, but it works) and exporting the video to one of the video cd formats (all I have noticed is cleaned up a little static) -:suss:Matt Newman / Windows XP Activist:suss:

OK, maybe not as easily, but it's certainly doable. - Jamie Nordmeyer - 15-Nov-2002One thing I found is that Sony DVD players that support VCD won't play home burnt CDRs, but play CDRWs quite happily (worth knowing before you create lots of coasters, and easy to test too - just stick in an audio CDR and an audio CDRW first, and see which work) -- Help me! I'm turning into a grapefruit!

For some reason, Nero will default to a 5 second pause after each video, which is weird. You just need to remember to select all the tracks, bring up the properties, and change it to 0 or 1. I personally use TMPGENC to convert the videos to the VCD format. VCD's on my TV (which is an HDTV) look awful compared to DVDs. But on a friends 7" in-car DVD player (don't ask why, yes it is illegal) look fine. You can try playing it back on your PC to see if the encoding by Nero created the blocks. Just pop in the VCD, browse the directories on it and look for some large files. Drag and drop them into Windows Media Player and they should play. NOTE: the file extension that VCD uses is not associated with WMP.

Thanks. I just played some on my PC with PowerDVD and they are fine. I know the quality won't be as good as DVD, but on my DVD player there are simply huge artefacts. They would be visible on a 7" screen for sure, we are talking about a few frames where 1/2 of the screen is blocky. I'm going to a shop at lunchtime with the VCD to get it played on a few other players to see if any play it as well as my PC does. Yes, here you can buy a DVD player in almost every supermarket or eletronics store. But a VCD player must be directly imported, and I never saw one on a store. Most people here don't even know what is VCD. So, in practical terms, if you want a VCD player here, you use a DVD player wich supports VCD. I see dumb people
