Giving the body a break? There was a number years where I had no intrest in the brew. I would buy a case and it would last me several months where the ones that were consumed were by visitors. Now that I'm back in a band again, a little liquid courage halps to calm the stage fright some what.

It was broke, so I fixed it.

You have to understand, the Jewish religion attempts to legislate and govern every possible area of a Jew's life. There are rulings on how to tie shoes, which leg to place in the pant first, and what blessing to say when one sees a monkey[^]. It should be no surprise there are religious rulings on the lawfulness of selling organs, even if that sits into the cliche of Jews being rich/always trying to make a dollar.

Totally agree. I actually consulted a rabbi about piercings and tattoos. (I'm Reform, so he said that piercings were okay since the holes could disappear, but not tattoos.)

Blog updated as of Nov 2011!!! http://craptasticnation.blogspot.com Regarding the passing of Andy Rooney, a quote from myself: "I always loved his curmudgeonly rants as an existential part of my bitchy self"

maybe - but at least they are discussing the issue(s), unlike most of the community who seem to put their head in the sand ! and, ignoring the $$ issues, if your brother needed a kidney, are you telling me you wouldnt give him one/consider it ?

Well, in Judaism it's a bit different. God, the God of Bible (the one Jews and Christians follow), didn't actually legislate this. But over time, Jewish religious leaders ruled on all kinds of thing that the Bible remains silent on. Those rulings are considered binding by some Jews. So it's not that God actually told us what leg to put in the pants first, but that somewhere, sometime, the question was asked by a Jew and was answered and ruled on by Jewish religious leaders.
