I'm actaully chuffed that someone would actually want to move from the USA to the UK! Can I ask why you are making this decision ... becuase if you believe everything you read in the British press, the only people that want to come and live in the UK are either from 3rd-world countries, South Africa or Australia (usually young backpackers with a penchant for bar work ... :-D) ... I would imagine the numbers of Americans wishing to come live here are VERY low (there are probably more people moving in the opposite direction).

I've heard it can be difficult to move to England permanently. (One of my friends tried to do that.) They seem to have strict laws about immigration because there are already so many people there. You might have to marry someone to stay there. ------------------------------------------ "Isn't it funny how people say they'll never grow up to be their parents, then one day they look in the mirror and they're moving aircraft carriers into the Gulf region?" - The Onion

We had an old American couple move into their retirement bungalow just down the road from us last summer. Lovely folk if a little, well, in-your-face (it obviously doesn't die down with old age!) That makes one American and one English family within twenty miles of here - the rest are some obscure descendants of mountain folk. That's true about South Africans - the local Weatherspoons (sp?) usually has at least one early twenty-something with a Seuth Efriken accent behind the bar. I haven't noticed many Australians though, not that I've really been looking. I would hazzard a guess that most Americans view England through the same glasses they believe we use to view them? :~

If he's interested I can hook him up with a charming local lass, I think I saw some reasonable ones offering themselves down at the market last week. Just bear in mind that over here conjugal rights are mandated by law.

I just looked out my window - it's snowing heavily right now. Even with the central heating on since midday the air temperature in here is still bloody freezing. Any chance you could book a spare flight out to Spain with you? :~

Well that explains the influx of Arab men through England to Canada.. ;) BW "Gandalf. Yes. That is what they used to call me. Gandalf the Grey. *I* am Gandalf the White." - Gandalf the White

That movie was great! Excellent scenery, great choice of music, good actors, etc. (Yes, I do think Antonio Banderas is a great actor, eventhough I'm not female ;)) After I saw that film, I wanted to be an arabian. It lasted about 5 minutes when I realized that vikings had lot more fun eating those funky mushrooms. KaЯl wrote: I've seen the 13th warrior[^] on TV last night.
