Nice post - good compendium of what used to be cutting edge gaming! Check this - back in the day (circa 1980) my best friend's dad worked at Motorola, makers of the ROMs for all of the 2600 games. So he hooked his son up with a circuit board with an interchangeable IC chip-socket that would plug into the normal 2600 cartridge slot. My friend would get all the newest games in chip form almost weekly, even alpha versions sometimes, in a plastic case covered on the inside with anti-static foam. I remember that a couple of the first games we got to test were Adventure and Dragster... Good times.

"... having only that moment finished a vigorous game of Wiff-Waff and eaten a tartiflet." - Henry Minute  "...who gives a tinker's cuss?" - Dalek Dave  "Let's face it, after Monday and Tuesday, even the calendar says WTF!" - gavindon   It's plain that they do not yet know what true fear really is. - JSOP 2011
