Police to test laser that Blinds rioters[^]

Really? Frickin' shoulder-mounted laser beams? Those coppers... Why not take this one step further? Oh, come on, you know what I mean. 'thas to do with sharks and their heads[^]. Well, the advantage of this to CS gas is, that you aren't going to blow snott, vomit and your guts through your nose afterwards. And who needs a cornea anyway? :suss: :)

Back in me chemist days, we had goggles for working with our lasers - which hadn't even the pretense of being eye-safe (or body safe in many cases). Glorified sunglasses. The laser-wall deal? It'll work for a while, until one simply gets sunglasses to filter the laser's wavelength - and these filters come in very narrow bands, so the scene will look otherwise rather bright. So well have some uniquely expensive flashlights Probably the reason for development is the gambling community (i.e., stock traders) don't appreciate the aroma of tear gas whilst they have their three-shot lunches.
