Isn't it ironic? I'm fairly confident that the creationist retards who reject the theory of evolution have a lower IQ than this chimpanzee.

So since I am a creationist that believes in evolution I have an IQ higher than or equal to a chimpanzee? :)

Next thing you know, he'll be learning how gut a pig and dress 'n trim it. Can a love for bacon be far behind. :)

Chris Meech I am Canadian. [heard in a local bar] In theory there is no difference between theory and practice. In practice there is. [Yogi Berra] posting about Crystal Reports here is like discussing gay marriage on a catholic church’s website.[Nishant Sivakumar]

You beat me to the bacon reference. But you said it better than I would.

I am pretty sure Gorillas and Orangutan are self aware too. Bonobos and Chimps certainly. What of Elephants? Seem to remember a study from a few years ago showing they had self awareness

I am sure that other animals have it as well, at least to some degree. Cats and dogs can see us as individuals as well as more or less abstract groups, like men and women. Don't you think they have any view of themselves at all?

And from the clouds a mighty voice spoke:
"Smile and be happy, for it could come worse!"

And I smiled and was happy
          And it came worse.

Oh, yes, Orangutans, I forgot them, you are right, but I read about this many years ago. For Gorillas and Elephants I’m pretty sure, they were not mentioned, unless there is new development on the subject(the article I read was from about 10 years ago).

OK. I will be serious here. It is a fact that those quoted are the ones most likely to get aids, I am sure that even you acknowledge that certain groups run much higher risks. I have no personal problems with any of those groups, I know several current and past drug takers, I have several gay friends, and although I do not frequent with prostitutes, I understand the reasons many get into the trade (often very sad reasons such as drug abuse). The African part is the cultural practice of a man taking on his dead brothers wife as a wife, and the UN has concerns (See Here).[^] I can see how they may have seemed rather inceniary comments, but the facts are in no doubt. You are right that I do not wish death or disease on anyone, of course not, I am not a heartless bastard. But having just buried a grandfather who died of Cancer I just made the point that cancer is the disease we need, as a species, to try to cure. I am not an idiot, just sometimes rather foolish. I can see how you read my posts as they appeared. Hey ho. I cannot change my views, nor would I, that would be the worst kind of craven cowardice, but I can concede that it should have been phrased less offensively.

In the spirit you wrote that I give you my 5 I'll move on and concede the lounge to you. I used to really care about this place but now I've come to see it's just not worth caring about as much anymore. I used to like the discussion here which were always interesting and varied and intellectually stimulating but since the voting was implemented it's gone downhill steadily year after year. All the cool old timers I used to hang with here have been gone for years; I'm one of the last of the old timers really and that should have told me something a long time ago that I failed to realize until now. I do have better things to do and better choices for the kind of discussions I would like to have online and getting angry over something on the internet is easily one of the poorest ways to spend even a fraction of what little life we have. Cheers!

The chimps are the only other animals who possess a self-awareness (that’s why they have wars, and kill each other in this wars). Even the dolphins don’t have self-awareness. I think this is enough evidence that we share some common ancestors solely.

Actually I watched a show some time ago that stated Dolphins do have self awareness. They showed one male that had a mirror in his tank that was quite obviously looking in the mirror at his tail and back. he seemed to take special interest in the side that had some scars on it.

Let's face it, after Monday and Tuesday, even the calendar says WTF! Be careful which toes you step on today, they might be connected to the foot that kicks your butt tomorrow. You can't scare me, I have children.

There is an alternative to that hypotheses however, it could be that you have changed.

Laudable goal. However "cancer" is not one disease. Aids is. Also possible that many types of cancer will not turn out to be something that one can just prevent with a shot. But Aids probably will be.
