Just vaguely curious as to the types of applications generally being worked on at the moment. Anyone working on cool stuff to make the rest of us jealous? cheers, Chris Maunder
I am just starting work on a WSH (Windows Scripting Host) IDE. It will allow users to edit and debug their VBScript/JavaScript/etc. WSH scripts. It will support such editing features as; syntax highlighting, intellisence like auto-completion and time permitting, a spell checker. The debugger part will provide all the expected standard functionality like setting break points, etc. –- as you can see there are not a whole lot of details yet, I need to do allot more research into the new XML based WSH project files, and what the new functionality that WSH version 5.6 brings in to the mix. I'm not sure if there’s much to be jealous about here, considering I wont see any money till the whole thing is complete -- and even then, who knows... but it will be interesting  -Ben --------- On the topic of code with no error handling -- It's not poor coding, it's "optimistic" ;)

Enterprise level platform for developing CRM apps that conduct real-time dialogs between a customer and a vendor. 100% Java. See www.revenio.com - shameless plug :-). In my spare time, I work on a few Win9x/NT/2K products (MFC). Also developing a few hacks (MFC) that may turn into products some day. Just started playing with PHP. /ravi "There is always one more bug..." http://www.ravib.com ravib@ravib.com

Development Manager for the world's finest product (ever) Windows GUI, agents on Windows, UNIX/Linux, AS/400, VMS, Tandem and MVS. GUI written as traditional MFC/MDI application, agents simple C/C++ sockets design. One GUI can manage up to 255 servers at the same time. Plus lots of Perl, Shell, CL, DCL, ... A major case of brain overload, but it's very challenging, and great to win deals against the big boys like Computer Associates and BMC in an open marketplace. :-D Old Simon HB9DRV

This lot keeps me busy: Public Display information Service codenamed 'Indigo' - www.fswalkerhughes.com/Products.htm Tchnologies used: MFC, Winsock, ADO, ATL, GDI(+). [Server] Uses TCP/IP Server with redundency, core uses IOCP. [Client] Client (information displays), displays many types of page formats: Custom, Web, Movie, Advertisement, Clock and using a lot of GDI, I now supporting GDI+ (found a few bugs in the beta). [Extras] The studio uses MFC Doc/View to design pages, the studio has a VB style interface. This also a security module and auditing module. [Database] The database is ORACLE, we use ADO for the interface layer to the database.

Not cool really, but I'm working on a Holiday Call Centre system. Converting a Fox Pro version into a HTML version. Currently trying to get their existing java servlets to talk to my asp code on IIS. (Not nice and not clever) I'm pushing as hard as I can to get them to move over to .NET (as I want to work with some cool toys for once :-) )

I'm working on our Pharos subsea Acoustic Tracking and Navigation application (MFC) - the first public release of which should be on July 13th. In my spare time I'm working on the Resource ID Organiser Add-In for Visual C++ 5.0/6.0, and doing some help file authoring for asynchrony.com. In the longer term I'm going to take a real good look at managed C++ and see where I end up... Andy Metcalfe - Sonardyne International Ltd

At work I'm trying to figure out how all the new stuff in VS.NET Beta 2 is working. At home, I'm developing some Template Based classes, that wraps IO CompletionPorts, we (me and a friend) can use for our opcomming (socket) server products :) - Anders Money talks, but all mine ever says is "Goodbye!"
