We'll install it, but I'm really finding it hard to be excited with this release. After the bloatware debacle that was VS2010 Beta/RC/RTM, VS2012 seems to bring a whole new set of PR, deployment and usability disasters to the table. Even Carlos[^] is pigged off at MS this time and the comments on the VS blog and uservoice site have been scathing. We're very worried about the theme changes in particular as they are about to cause us a whole pile of unnecessary work. For example, the user can switch themes (between light and dark) on the fly, but MS have not explained how third party add-ins can handle theme changes within the IDE (command button icons are fixed on install and I can't see a way to change that using the interfaces we have access to). Then of course there's having to do two sets of greyscale icons just to "fit in" with a UI style that probably won't last past one version...

He's making a satire of the ALL CAPS main menu in VS.

Incidentally, the UI is still hideous. I do not get this gray on gray nonsense Microsoft (and Adobe) seem obsessed with.

I never download the web installers. In South Africa, we are just used to flaky internet ;p

Still? The more things change the more they stay the same.

Not just those two. Google and Apple as well. The UI is better than the all-monochrome one of a while back. Still plenty of moans about the all-caps menu but that's fixable in the registry.

I find it overrated and also patronising.
