    as for being British

Ha, and who had to abdicate because he wanted a non UK wife? And as for ruining her kids lives, she wouldnt let charles marry cmailla insead forcing him into an arranged marriage, that ended up destroying lives. But why do you respect someone who has done nothing on her own, of her own volition? She is where she is through accident of birth. That doesnt make her special or give me any reason to respect her. If on the other hand she actually DID something by using her position, then I might. Personally I have more respect for Charles. As nuts as he is at least he TRIES to make a difference in the world. As did Diana, although much of that seemed PR related. Hope their sons (cough cough) are better.

I dont remember anyone abicating because they wanted a foreign wife, there was one guy who wanted to marry a Divorcee which at the time was a nono is this what you mean, for a Brit your history is abit iffy and you know that she prevented him marrying Camilla is this the Camilla he is married to? I am supprised with this level of insider knowledge you are so anti royal did something as in? she is head of state but parliment is the elective govenment, she makes ssure she does not get publiclly involved but how much she is involved in private is anyones guess as for her works , i doubt you have done asmuch for the people of the UK in your life as she has in aweek in fact the best thing you ever did was to leave I know your not a patriot you are closer to a traitor, you claim you have a wider sense of belonging yet you never miss a chance at slagging off the UK.

Actually I found the link quite interesting. Fundamentally so. Plus I have never liked her starchiness. The fact she is supported by the tax payer, when she earns so much off her land. That she has destroyed her children's lives with her meddling and that she isnt even British. If you chose to worship her thats your problem.

The profits of the Royal Estate were surrendered to the Treasury in exchange for the Civil List by King George III. The monies paid into the Treasury directly generated by the Royal Family exceed the money taken out, and that is before you add in hundreds of millions more in international tourism that they generate for the country. I would much rather the current system than the alternative which would have been President Tone or Dave.

no i just feel that you are a prat who thinks that he is somehow superior just because he lives abroad, you insult the country of your birth and conveintly forget all the issues of these other countries you are so happy to champion. yes traitor is a old term that maybe should return, you have the right to your opinion something that this country has fought for. and i did not call you a traitor I just pointed out that you are closer to the definition of one than you are to the definition of a patriot, but then again you probably think that being a patriot is also something from history ps why the 12th century? are you saying that the last traitor was so long ago? of is this this another case of your poor understanding of history

Not all the estates were surrendered by the way. It is not so much that I am anti monarch, yes, a monarchy is a bit of fun, and encourage tourism, it is just that she is out of date, so out of touch with the modern world, and the position an monarch should adopt. Charles is better, but he has no hope of becoming king, but at least he uses his position to try to make a difference in the world.

all the royal estates were surrendered, at the begining of Victoria's rule the Crown had no assets, it was Victoria's rule and the canny investment of personnel wealth (most of which was Hubby's so German wealth) which meant that they were serious land owners at the end, but you dont like fact getting in the way of your rant do you. Its amazing how much inside infor you have? do you work for the Queen? as everyone seem to say she is down to earth and very much in tune with the modern world, something you seem to be ammiss

You already speak German, they invaded in the 7th and 9th centuries. Anyway, at least of the Germans HAD invaded 100 years ago the U< might have a manufacturing sector to speak of and an economy that isnt completely fucked. I dont have any problem defending something I value, and it just might happen to be my patch of earth, but defend a flag? An incumbent power system? I am reminded of a big party held in Luton to celebrate the end of the first world war. All the local big wigs got together, the industrialists, the merchants and so on. NOT A SINGLE SERVING MEMBER OF THE ARMED FORCES WAS INVITED. Thats what they died for. It wasnt to 'not speak German' as stupid people often state, it was to keep the existing power structure in place. Tell me, before Germany united and industrialised, why did Britain support Germany? And after why did Britain oppose it? Why dont you THINK for a change.

All the local big wigs got together, the industrialists, the merchants and so on. really which bit didn’t i answer? the bit about being out of touch? the bit about being out of date? the bit about her role (which by the way is pretty much set by the political parties) or the right to question you on how you know she has no impact? your post is little more than petty jealousy what should be doing in your worthy opinion, commenting on govenment? or maybe more like that worthy in touch personage the archBishop of Canterbury?

Go on then,. tell me how in touch she is. Tell me how Blair DIDNT have to convince her to fly the flag at half mast when Diana died. The public opinion was NOT running against her at the time. Next tell me all about the charitable work she does the schemes she runs you know, the actual differences SHE makes to HER people. (Sitting back waiting for no response at alll...)

Ha! I see the big run away tactic when you can no longer propose a decent argument. You lost pal, I won, if you want to vouch it in such terms. ;P But seriously, look at history, look at why Britain supported Germany in the Franc Prussian war, and didnt in WWi. If you were a REAL patriot you would speak Brythonic Celtic, not a derivative of low German. But you dont. You chose the particular chunk of timelime to jump on and call it your bandwaggon, the one that happens to be something from about 60 years ago. Why not think outside the box, and make a better decision? For example, as you have said, I live abroad, in France, perhaps I am a greater patriot than you because I live in the country that invaded and dominated Britain? Perhaps speaking French is the true patriotic language (if you chose the 12th century chunk of Britains timeline.) But I dont really give a shit. I live my life, I am me. I am not defined by some family that perchance took power on some island centuries ago, by some narrow minded sacrificial BS. Its your choice if you want to be though.

Yep, more running away since you cant provide any proof that she actually tries to do some good for Britain. At least Charles does, when (if) he becomes king I will have more respect for the job.
