      It may not have changed the way I speak. BUT my hand writing and spelling is shocking. I find it hard not to joinTheWordsUp in sentences. I find myself unable to spell other words that don't start with the letter T, i.e. TShirt or TJunction or TService. I also join andalso and orelse by habit although this is probably a curse of VB.NET. And lastly when I type "I", I sometimes end up with ICan't write!

        Never mind speaking the way you program. Try writing (with an actual pen and paper) and you find yourself unsure of how to spell! So now you try and spell farewell and you end up having to think how the "e" looks so you imagine the keyboard and rememember "qwerty" and only then remember how the "e" looks. Sad part is why you never forget what the "wasd" looks like :)

          Not really for speaking, other than having it make me fairly pedantic. I find that I actually use Visual Studio key shortcuts in other programs a lot. The big ones that I do without thinking are CTRL+SHIFT+B and CTRL+E,D ... then I'm confused when my online pizza order doesn't build, or my status reports don't auto-format.

          ctrl + space in ALL text editors, including the textbox i used to post this ;P

          I'm brazilian and english (well, human languages in general) aren't my best skill, so, sorry by my english. (if you want we can speak in C# or VB.Net =p)

              It's not only that! When I'm at VBA or AutoLISP, I tend to do the things just like C#: creating classes, properties, etc. :-) (anything near that, or course :laugh: )

                  When I was in high school I was deep into programming a DEC PDP-8 in Assembler. For you young whippersnappers out there, the DEC (Digital Equipment Corporation) PDP (Program Data Processor) series were generally programmed using octal notation. I worked evenings as an usher at a movie theater. On slow nights, if there was nobody in the theater during the last showing, we'd close down and go home early. One slow night, I did my rounds into the auditorium and counted heads (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11). While I was standing at my post, two people left. The candy girl (yes, we had sexist roles back then) asked how many were still in the theater. I said, "There were eleven, two left, that leaves seven." She then inquired what school I was attending. Realizing how I had slipped gears to doing octal math, I tried to explain how that happened. Ever try to explain octal and binary math to someone who has never known anything other than decimal?

                          Once I tried to explain sth. to my father and wrote it down. He was irritated I used CamelCase on regular compound words... :laugh:

                            I keep trying to use Ctrl+M,O and Shift+Del in other editors, generally to no effect (or something else happens and I spend a few minutes trying to undo it...).

                            Shift-Delete is 'cut' (the same as Ctrl-X) pretty much everywhere, to go with Ctrl-Ins (copy) and Shift-Ins (paste).

                                I only talk nerdy to my wife. I am known to get her attention when she's talking by saying, "IRQ?". I have sometimes said I was "grepping" the house for my briefcase. (She knows this joke. She's meant to answer, "Use fgrep, it's faster.") We share a lot of these speech mannerisms as inside jokes. I'm pretty much in control of it. I would not 'get' a person who couldn't tell they were talking to a human being and not a keyboard. My wife is an accountant. She doesn't do this kind of thing at all. Kinda what you'd expect.
