Is Winamp Dead?

There were days when Winamp was a must have. But today I hardly find it being discussed anywhere. I personally use MediaMonkey. What player are you guys using?

Almost 8 years back: It was a fine evening, everything was fine and someone told me to copy a CD for him. I did it for him and found a small thing called VLC on that. saved it for myself too and then never looked back (to winamp). Almost 5 years back: My client told me to make a small change in VLC player to incorporate QoS parameter in the video streaming. I started looking into code and it took me a week to get my version with required changed up and running. This made things personal. I saw the code and made some changes. now using VLC is like a personal matter to me. I don't go elsewhere but VLC only. P.S. I use mediaportal when i need lean back experience and VLC when i need lean forward experience.

I find there is no need to use a music player on the computer. More of a hassle than convenience. If I want to listen to music I use my phone. It is always with me and I can get up and still have my music. I tend to use Slacker Radio but occasianlly load up Pandora.
Computers have been intelligent for a long time now. It just so happens that the program writers are about as effective as a room full of monkeys trying to crank out a copy of Hamlet.

QMP or VLC, depending on which machine I'm on. Anything with more than three letters in its name is just too much trouble.

I mostly use Pandora these days, but still keep this mp3 player up to date: 1by1 It doesn't require playlists; looks like Windows Explorer - point to a folder and hit play.

I am the one that is still using it. I like to listen to my mp3ed CDs(*). because Winamp works fine. Why should I change? (*) YES, I'm also the one that still buys CDs. Because I think the artists deserve to be paid.

Artists barely see any of that money, if you want to artist to get paid, go to a concert, that's where they make most of their money. (I do buy CDs however, because I can put the music on any player I want, at any quality I want, without DRM.)
