WTF: is this the most expensive IT book?

I was looking for WPF books on Amazon and came across this[^] listing. Unless somebody at Amazon changes it, take a look at the difference between the Kindle and paperback price! Edit: The paperback price is for a used book.

Well it appears to be the only surviving copy in the world so the price seems cheap to me. :-)

Nowt to do with Amazon. That's an external seller, in China by the looks of it. Amazon aren't carrying the paper version. I've often wondered by those 'new and used from' sellers, never seem trustworthy to me for some reason.

You will occationaly seen horribly overpriced books on Amazon. I wonder if anybody every buys them. Sometimes it is because the book is no longer in print. This one, however, is rather amazing since it is about to be obsolete.

You have my attention: I've not used WPF yet but if it's slated for the museum what's going to replace it? It's not like Microsoft to leave a void. ;)

HTML5 + CSS3 can do all the animation and graphics magic including 3D which was WPF's USP and now with WinRT , HTML5 can also access native API so thats going to be the replacement IMHO

Raj, while you were replying I looked up some references to the is-it-dead-or-is-it-alive debate. I latched on to the references to HTML5 etc. I get the feeling there are two schools of thought with ideas for and against it. That could well explain the hefty price tag for the book. :) I'll not put WPF on my mailing list for a while then. That'll give me time to look at other things I need to brush up on. Thanks all, for saving me £370.

but you should also know that this is for Win8 and beyond that. Till Win7 and Win XP WPF is "The application" development platform. WPF is like Visual Basic but more robust and is not going away so soon.

Hmm. I have the VS2008 version of the book. It ought to be worth a megabuck or so. It's a very good book, BTW. I believe the dead tree version is only available in paperback.
