The pacu is lovingly referred to as the "ball cutter" after killing two men in Papua New Guinea by biting off the testicles of at least two local men. It was the video at the bottom of the article that caught me - about half way through, the expert meant something completely different but states "Their main diet is nuts..." link [^]

I call media-hype. First off, if you're wearing a suit I don't see where any fish is going to be grabbing teh baggage. So the first problem is that the fishermen who lost their baggage were probably nekkid. Secondly, a fish isn't going to approach you if your moving around. Third, my guess is the fishermen got their baggage ripped off in a fight or a tree limb or something and they're blaming a fish because they were up to no good. What a load of carp.

Actually I am surprised it is called a Pacu. Most word are onomatopoeic in that the word represents the event in sound, such a 'bang' and 'thud', so I would have expected this fish to be called (in their local language) 'OwwShitThatGodamnedFIshAteMyBallsOff! or some such. :)
