I was shocked as well. 7 minutes ago I checked the board and saw a lonely TLP. jsut a few seconds ago I saw a "83" on the front page :omg: I think the 8 is just some bit where chris stores important (or funny) information.

Same here, except for me it said 83 because of you and Chris's replies. I was thinking it must have turned into another GWB argument. Chris Richardson Programmers find all sorts of ingenious ways to screw ourselves over. - Tim Smith

I have a Pioneer DVR-A03 which works very well (at least for data backup & DVD playback). The current model is an DVR-A05 (DV-R @ 4X and DV-RW @ 2X). It can also do CD-R @ 16X & CD-RW @ 8X. It uses an ATAPI UDMA33 Interface. You can find the OEM version DVR-105 for about $250 mail-order (see pricewatch.com). Retail version is about $10 to $15 more and includes software & cables. Steve

The Pioneer A05 is pretty much the de facto standard now, and it's the model that Apple ships in Macs. Whatever you do, get a drive that does DVD-R/RW, not DVD+R/RW. (Yes, "-" and "+" are part of the names and they are different standards.) The + versions are evil offshoots and don't work in as many drives. --Mike-- Looks like I picked the wrong week to stop sniffing glue. 1ClickPicGrabber - Grab & organize pictures from your favorite web pages, with 1 click! I myself use a Pioneer 104 (2x write) and it's worked great for me. However, as Mike mentioned, the 105/A05 is the more recent model that includes 4x write capability, and Pioneer pretty much lead development of DVD-R/RW writers. -- Paul "Put the key of despair into the lock of apathy. DVD-R/DVD-RW? (im lost w/ the new technology) i know people will shun me for this but i was thinking about maybe getting like 2 or 3 DVD's from blockbuster and burning them i know its not legal, but its for personal use and stuff and i just wanna know the un-biased facts about this stuff... how much it costs for a blank DVD, etc.
