Ahh yes, an M3 - you can pick up a decent E90 model for a reasonable price, but the running costs are stratospheric. Although the 320d is still pretty quick. Quicker than the mrs can walk anyway :)

Both, and yourself. I saw a comment from someone somewhere a short while ago that was something along the lines of "Before I became a parent the question 'how much vomit is OK on a t-shirt?' never had any answer other than 'none', now it varies daily".

I think you'll be able to keep the car, but every available inch of it is going to get filled with stuff for the baby each time you go out. And you will be forever cleaning piss, shit, and puke off the insides of it, often the outsides too, not to mention mushed up food, drink, unidentifiable sticky stuff. There will come a point where you just cannot be bothered cleaning it anymore.

          1. I bought a new, well I say new, nearly new - 9 month old approved BMW 320d MSport with 1,000 miles on the clock with all the gizmos and gadgets you could wish for. And, man, what a cracking car that thing is to drive - I went out for a drive in it the other night for no other reason then just for fun - and I haven't done that since I first past my test, and for a four door diesel saloon that is quite amazing :-) The missus now calls me a car geek instead of just a geek. 2) And speaking of the missus - she is preggers! Which means we will be expecting our first child in January - eeek!! No I'm not prepared, yes I am petrified - well not as much as the Mrs is about having to push the thing out :-) But we are both over the moon! Any tips? :-D

As somebody with a 5 week old, you have my condolences. Expect lots of people to tell you it gets better...in several months time...while you feel like you can't make it another day. Enjoy!

Yeah, we've heard the same thing from our friends. They say the first months are the hardest and the worst, but after that it gets better and better and then you wouldn't trade it for all the world. :)

Stand by for pain, anguish, worry, stress, anger, grief, panic etc for the next 40+ years. Oh, and quite a lot of absolutely wonderful pleasure.

One of these days I'm going to think of a really clever signature.

I'm thinking about exchanging my Saab 9-5 Aero for a BMW M5, somehow I have to convince myself that the running costs are less than stratospheric... I'm almost there, but I still need to little more convincing from myself. :^)

It's important to wipe baby puke off leather seats before it dries.

Mmmhhmmm. M5 - yeah, I saw those as well for approx £15-20k That's a whole load of car for the money. what was it £60k new? I do think that it would cost an arm and a leg to insure, tax, and maintain, but, sod it, do it for a year, I bet you'll love it :D

She's already got a bit of a gut. She also doesn't like me calling it a "gut".

It's important to wipe baby puke off leather seats before it dries.

Any tips? :-D

Be prepared for truly knowing what love is. The first time you hold that baby and look at it's helpless, innocent face you will feel overwhelmed with pride, love, and responsibility. That is the only time I felt like I would do anything and everything for someone, that no sacrifice would be too great. After a few weeks of no sleep, the feeling is still there and you realize that's the reason why you are not taking the baby back. My experience has been that babies get better every three months for the first year. I love the 2-3 year stages. I have 4 and #5 is in the oven. The major milestones are: 1. Sleeping through the night (which #4 is going on 2 and still not doing) 2. Crawling (they gain some independence) 3. Walking (they gain even more) 4. Talking is overrated, although the jibberish is cute. They think they've just rattled off a big sentence and are so proud of themselves. Stay away from big purple dinosaurs.

Brad If you think you can, you will. If you think you can't, you won't. Either way, you're right.

Mmmhhmmm. M5 - yeah, I saw those as well for approx £15-20k That's a whole load of car for the money. what was it £60k new? I do think that it would cost an arm and a leg to insure, tax, and maintain, but, sod it, do it for a year, I bet you'll love it :D

The tax and insurance isn't to bad, I've paid more on insurance on other cars when I was younger. It's mostly the running costs I'm hesistant to, I drive ~35 000km per year so just the extra fuel is a lot. But then again, how fun is it to have you money in the bank? :)
