Has anyone tried Magento ecommerce solution or do you think it's best to develop the application from scratch in .Net? Is Magento any good? And how much is the yearly cost apart from development cost for a start up company. Which means not lot of visitors to start with.

I've used osCommerce and assuming Magento is similar, the learning curve is not bad...if it don't have an import function as part of its base code, see if there is an add-on / plug in for it. Way easier to create a product spreadsheet offline and do an upload instead of doing everything online using forms. Have you looked at this open source eCommerce summary [^]?

I am currently using Shopify ( www.pashminaperfection.com ) and the features seem good. It is much more user friendly than Magento in my opinion.
