Channel 4 is to show more of the games after it has been a massive ratings win so far. The opening ceremony gave them their biggest audience for a decade, and some of the coverage of the events have made them the most watched channel in the country. Of course that doesn't make your claim for most people any less true, but even if it is the coverage is no less valid. Most people are miserable, selfish bastards and I don't care what they think.

Well the ones I saw looked pretty damn normal to me. It wasnt like they were herded out of a van whereupon they wandered around aimlessly having to be constantly shepherded to the start line. And as for the IQ required to run and jump for a normal Olympian, I wouldn't have thought it was that high, so I really fail so see why there is any distinction here. As for the horses though, I really do think they should be disable too. A few lame ones with replacement legs and stuff. Perhaps those blade looking things the runners use. With a bit of technology they could be got to jump 30 feet I reckon. :)

He should leave his culture of misogyny at home. It's a shame the IPC and the Duchess of York decided his bigotry is something which should be respected.

It's not something I like to watch. I love the Olympics. And the winner of the 100M can say he is the fastest man over that distance in the World or the winner of the 200m breaststroke is the fastest swimmer at that distance in the world. I do not see the point in having a competition two weeks later to determine who is the fastest person with a learning disability. Or who is the fastest swimmer with one leg, or which hayfever sufferer can jump the furthest. I don't think it should be given any significance, and in the rest of the world it quite rightly isn't.

No it's not. I read a piece that suggests that 1 in 6 cheat by hurting themselves before a competition. Apparently by hurting themselves this produces a shot of adrenalin which speeds up their heart and gets them warmed-up in much the same way as an abled-bodied person would warm-up through exercise.

I'm sorry mate, but I have to disagree with you here. Why should we not afford the same dignity as we do to a fully-abled person in the Olympics? These competitors have as much right to have their skill displayed as someone like Michael Phelps does.

Actually, you didn't, and nor does anyone else who gets the quote wrong. "The staff of life" = a famous quote from one of the translations of the Bible, which everyone knows and understands, and which can be use directly, indirectly, symbolically, rhetorically, metaphorically, etc. in discussions with intelligent and lucid people. "The stuff of life" = a vague descriptive used in biological circles, which can only be used directly, so is usually a nonsense misquoting of "the staff of life",

There was a mud wrestling petition? Link damn it, and I will sign it.

It was a proposed, conceptual petition, so please enclose your proposed, conceptual signature in a plain, unmarked, mud-coloured envelope.
