So, "under-educated" people are stupid ? :~ Nothing personal there, just taking the opportunity I see the adjective stupid a lot in these days in the forums. I'm affraid it could be the expression of a complex of superiority over other workers, particularly manual workers. Too many believe diplomas make intelligence.

Yeah, I hate it when people of higher education call manual laborers stupid because they are not of the same education level. When I call somebody stupid, I am usually referring to either their maturity level (which is really a slang use of stupid) or lack of common sense. Just because you have a college degree doesn't mean you're not stupid (hence the term educated idiot). Except maybe intelligent folk can achieve qualifications easier in many cases if they so desire. In English the words "Stupid" and "Silly" are used quite often and have no analogy to intelligence.
