 countless times.... i´m absolutely convinced, one day we can post 'clever' screenshots which will react to user events like the UI itself...

You mean like...running the program on your own machine? We can already do that... ;P

That used to be a favorite prank: take a screen shot of an application, make it someone's desktop, and then watch while they try and force it to exit.

I did that on a computer in high school. Took the student and the programming teacher half an hour to figure it out.

Actually, to clarify, I didn't take a screenshot of an application. I took a screenshot of the desktop with all its icons, then moved all the icons into a single folder, and set the screenshot as the background.

Or when a research scientist (chemist) rings you up to take a look at her PC because it's broke only to find out she's been clicking on the link in a screen dump stuck on an email and it's not working. Oh, and I'm not the IT staff, I'm just a research engineer in the software group and therefore I must know everything about computers, and have the duty to fix everybody else's PCs... :~

Almost, but not quite, entirely unlike... me...

This might be one of the best computer pranks I have heard of...

The United States invariably does the right thing, after having exhausted every other alternative. -Winston Churchill America is the only country that went from barbarism to decadence without civilization in between. -Oscar Wilde Wow, even the French showed a little more spine than that before they got their sh*t pushed in.[^] -Colin Mullikin
