Near xmas.. Who has the courage to make the "dip of the year" at the atlantic ocean? At this weekend I'll do that ;P
Last winter we went down to the Balaton and the whole lake was frozen over; deep enough to skate on. Some numpties had indeed broken the ice so that they could swim in the lake. I declined the offer to partake.

I think not. I feel better for a large G&T, I feel better for a juicy steak, I feel better for a swim in crystal blue warm waters on a summer's day. I DO NOT feel better for freezing my nadgers off!

I used to have a tradition in the first house I bought - When the first snow fell, I used make a large snowball, and throw it at the house. Mostly to see if it would fall down...
If you get an email telling you that you can catch Swine Flu from tinned pork then just delete it. It's Spam.

A short while ago I saw a YouTube video of a guy that wanted to take such an annual dip, by jumping straight through the ice on his swimming pool. Imagine his thoughts when he took a good bomber of a jump and the ice didn't break. :omg:

I saw the "walruses" jumping in to the River Neva through a hole in the very thick ice when I visited Leningrad in November 1986.
