Your part of the atlantic is probably warmer than my part. But with a sauna and some internal warming liquids I'm in.

People say nothing is impossible, but I do nothing every day.

I used to have a tradition in the first house I bought - When the first snow fell, I used make a large snowball, and throw it at the house. Mostly to see if it would fall down...

Courage? Ain't that risky, is it? You're a week to soon. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polar_bear_plunge[^]:

Every New Year's Day around 10,000 people dive collectively into the icy cold sea water at Scheveningen, The Netherlands' main beach resort town since 1960. In 89 locations on beaches and in lakes all over the country, each year around 30,000 people participate in this "Nieuwjaarsduik" (English: New Year's dive), with a record 36,000 participants on January 1st 2012.

It'll be 71F here tomorrow so if I accept it would be kind of cheating but if you wait a day and go Thursday it'll be 81F and I might could join you? :)

A short while ago I saw a YouTube video of a guy that wanted to take such an annual dip, by jumping straight through the ice on his swimming pool. Imagine his thoughts when he took a good bomber of a jump and the ice didn't break. :omg:

Last winter we went down to the Balaton and the whole lake was frozen over; deep enough to skate on. Some numpties had indeed broken the ice so that they could swim in the lake. I declined the offer to partake.

I saw the "walruses" jumping in to the River Neva through a hole in the very thick ice when I visited Leningrad in November 1986.

When I was a kid I loved the first snow of the year. I'd run to the door and shout at my parents "Come on! You know the deal! Let me in!"

Only problem is that the water can still be freaking cold. Well, when I was there visiting family for Thanksgiving the pool water was very cold in the morning. Had to keep swimming to generate enough heat. Once you did that it was nice.
