Hi, My Windows 7 Computer tells me that my Windows 7 is no longer genuine after installing MS Visual Studio 97. I know it's old, but, it serves my purpose. I bought it donkeys years ago. There were no activation codes those days. Has anyone seen this before. Regards, :) + Happy new year to all. Regards

A wild guess is that because it is so old it probably didn't check for version info before overwriting some system files with old versions, which could cause the activation/genuine check to fail.

Just reactivate Windows again. At worst, you need to reactivate via phone, possibly having to talk to a person.

It happened to me too a couple of years ago, after I installed something, though I can't remember what it was. On the next reboot, Windows suddenly wasn't activated any more.

As I said, the worst that could happen :) We have to do that frequently, and it's kinda weird but never trouble.

I had to reactivate via phone once, and I actually talked to a computer (e.g. automated assistant), and it was very helpful. The entire process took about 15 min. tops.
