I've been a fan of them since their 2nd album, Killers. (does this shows how old I am? :-O ) I just didn't like when Bruce Dickinson left them, the new vocalist is just not the same thing... Long live Eddie... ;)

Maybe I'm just hyped after being away, but tonight I learned ( rhythm and harmony leads only ) guitar for 'Run to the hills', 'number of the beast', 'hallowed be thy name' and 'the trooper'. I'm having so much fun !!! Anyone else here love Iron Maiden ? Christian No offense, but I don't really want to encourage the creation of another VB developer. - Larry Antram 22 Oct 2002

when i was 16, i thought they were the greatest, next to Judas Priest (who seemed a lot more err...authentic to me). then i discovered metallica and all that harmony and melody seemed quaint (JP still rocked). then JP went stupid. then i found Megadeth, and Metallica seemed less special. then i found the Cure and REM, and all that metal seemed fake: how can you be angry and spend so much effort on technical accuracy? then the Cure and REM turned poppy and i found Sonic Youth and Big Black. then Big Black broke up and Sonic Youth didn't change at all, so I found grunge. then grunge got swallowed by Pearl Jam, so i found early indie rock (Husker Du, Replacements, etc). but they were all either broken up or growing old, so I found Pavement, The Sea And Cake, Tortoise and Slint. those bands are fading (or gone) so now i'm looking again . i've found some promise in bands like the White Stripes, The Shins and a few others, but it's hard to see trends yet. -c -c

wow, this is almost as if i made the list myself first there was iron maiden (i was 13 then), then the cure, then a bunch of american bands: sonic youth, pixies, fugazi (still my favorite band), slint, shellac, then morphine and yo la tengo (ok, i'm getting old), and now the hives (IMO, best of the white stripes / datsuns / vines / ... pack) and some not-so-widely-known european bands

As someone else said, Bruce is back, they have three guitarists ( Janick Gers plus Adrian ( my fave ) and Dave ), and Brave New World is a killer album. Plus the Live in Rio DVD also rocks out. Christian No offense, but I don't really want to encourage the creation of another VB developer. - Larry Antram 22 Oct 2002
