It would more be a small inventory of small guns.

I only have six rifles (three are .22, two of which were used for silhouette competition and one is a 60-year-old Winchester Model 94 that's never been fired), and two handguns. I haven't bought a new gun in more than two years (I gave my dad's old handguns to my sister). I would definitely call my inventory small by pretty much any definition or comparison you might care to present. :)

I have a small collection also, but what is important is that you can use what you have effectively. A semi-auto with 30 rounds might be effective at holding off a bunch of thugs trying to hurt my family, but a bolt action larger bore with a scope might be more effective at providing dinner when the supermarkets run out of food.

Your inventory is infinitely larger than mine. (When using multiplication. e.g. 3 times larger)

Maybe if you are going after elk or a bear. If an AR is good enough for people it should also be good enough for Bambi or smaller. Especially if I miss, then I've got 29 more chances. :)

I find the editors comments pretty interesting, in the post just before yours 'Number crunching' Most of the proposed legislation they are talking about deals with Semi-Auto rifles, so a comparison of semi-auto rifles to say a hammer is valid. However, the editor some how managed to try skewing that direct analogy. [snip] the FBI data that states that all rifles, which would include hunting and semi-auto rifles, account for 323 murders a year. While 496 people are killed with hammers a year. Editor's note: For added perspective, 2011 FBI figures show firearms of all kinds were used in 8,583 murders; all other weapons and methods combined accounted for 4,081. [/snip] Even though the editor did not use a citation for their numbers, I found the FBI report. Expanded Homicide Data Table 8[^] interesting that they left vehicles of the list.

Common sense is admitting there is cause and effect and that you can exert some control over what you understand.

Bambi tends to have a gamey flavor, elk is much more like beef. Plus the scope and longer distance round helps because I'm too noisy to get close.
