I know I can do that, but they have burned people for less than that here, so I let it be the way the policy inquisition wants.

And Chrome Frame? You know... Chrome, with the IE aspect... :) http://www.google.com/chromeframe?prefersystemlevel=true[^]

Protip: you can associate bookmarks with keywords[^] so you can type, for example "g something" in the navigation bar, and it will search on google. Much better, imo, than having an ambiguous "maybe it will navigate, maybe it will search, you'll never know" sort of bar.

You can also set DuckDuckGo as your default search engine and use bang syntax!

... why do you insist in having a navigation bar AND a search bar :sigh: ? This is so '2000ish ( And I am usually not of the kind who would complain that there are too many bars, but ...). Furthermore, a navigation bar that throws you a popup error window ! This is even '1990ish.

It is! But, far more important on my "Firefox Please Fix THIS" list is the memory leak FF has been a few versions since: Can't leave the browser open even if idling for a full night and not find it next day all over the available RAM... Windows, Linux, Mac OSX - it's all the same  Wait... still have one in the chamber for Chrome: Chrome is good, behaves a little better but Google's obsession on keeping deep config options out of the user's reach annoys me to no end; this far into whatever Chrome version is at, still needing the "Tabs To Front" extension is '2000ish' as well, why can such simple functionality not be incorporated into the stock Chrome distribution? Also, Chrome's insistence on opening up a download bar at the bottom and keeping it there even as the download has completed is cumbersome... oh but there is an extension fix for that too. Meh. Off from the braced up soap box. Yes I'm that heavy. -- RP

One case that annoys me is that I often want to google an url before deciding to navigate to it, how can you do that on Chrome? Obviously you can go to google.com and do it there, but that's a bit of a detour.

Another shortcut you can press for the query mode is Ctrl + E, which I accidentally press when trying to close a tab :)

It would be great if Firefox would learn how to recognize word boundaries. When I make a typo in the middle of a word, backspace, and retype it correctly, Firefox flags just the retyped part as a spelling "error". The red underline makes me think it was a REAL spelling error, and distracts me momentarily. Cumulatively, over time, this slows me down, and is a waste of my time. With all the advances in artificial intelligence, recognizing word boundaries for spelling checks should be a solvable problem!

Oh, I think Google knows how to handle recursion.

In addition to the previous tips, I'll add my method of just typing a space before the URL. And of course, Chrome supports the same keyword-for-bookmarked-search-URL functionality as Firefox (right-click the address bar and "Edit search engines". One of the options in the dialog is to add a keyword)
