Last Monday, it was -16,5 degrees (Celsius) when I went to work. The car did start, but sounded a bit funny. We are eagerly waiting for spring here (Sweden). This winter has been too long, cold and snowy!

I guess I would survive exactly ten minutes in -16,5 degrees. I have no idea how cold this would be.

... it is barely autumn here in the southern hemisphere and I am almost freezing with a 20ºC (68ºF) in Brazil. No kidding, I find astonishing that there are people facing negative or near 0ºC temperatures somewhere!

It really is what you are used to. I grew up in a house without decent central heating and used to wake up with the condensation frozen into a sheet on the window and it didn't do me any harm. It took me several months to adjust to the heat when I moved to the Middle East and never really fully adjusted. The worst thing (and something the guidebooks don't mention) is the effect of going from a humid climate to an arid one has on your nose. My sinuses bang for at least a week when I go on holiday, the first time I went I ended up using saline spray. Conversely, the in-laws used to start putting on a roaring log fire when the outside temp got below ~20ºC, leaving the room too hot for me to stay in. Perhaps that was the idea :~ It backfired though, I'd simply wear a t-shirt and shorts, nobody wants to see my portly frame in those.....

It's just a matter of wearing the right clothes. BTW, this morning, it was just -7 degrees Centigrade. Felt like a heatwave... (No, not really).

I spoke to my brother in Perth last weekend. Last Sunday, at 4 pm, it was too hot for a motocycle ride. 31 degrees centigrade. So he decided to wait a couple of hours. Autumn, anyone? -7 here this morning. I think we need the sun now! It's been a long, cold, snowy winter in Sweden.

From 18 they double their birthdays, 2 19's, two 20's, etc until around 25, then they let in another year every few years until their mid-30's which last up to 20 years. After that it's 40,60 and then exact ages from around 80.

In the UK having a BBQ causes it to snow, though it should be noted that you can't force snow by having a BBQ.

it's colder here. Every winter we have some days below -30 when children don't go to school. The colder winter you have, the more you love summer :)

It could be worse though... But we do like the summer, when (and if) it gets here! So do you, I suppose.
