Why do people like James Bond Films?

I haven't bothered to watch any of the newer ones, except about a third of the last one before getting bored and turning it off. Clichéd unlike any other series you know what's going to happen. Fights he always wins, smug one-liners and an entirely predictable ending. But, for good drama you need to get to know the characters in order to be able to emphasise with them. They need some depth. When I cap a bad guy it often stays with me for days, I don't just shrug it off and have some poncy cocktail like it never happened. The guy clearly has a personality disorder. District 9 was an awesome film in this regard, and my favourite film ever is 'Madre Muerta' which I'm sure none of you will have seen, It's Spanish and follows some thoroughly bad-ass criminal who eventually just breaks down on his knees when rejected by his victim. It is the perfect story. Despite all the fuss about British Secret Service and sharp suites, the Yanks showed us how it was done in True Lies. That's what James Bond should be. James Cameron took the genre on and whipped 007 on the bottom.

Who wants all that melodrama? The message is simple. Cap a bad guy, get l... Simple, elegant, no brain power involved, no commitment, no emotional involvement, just pure basic needs. Like I said. Every teenager's (well, almost) fantasy - violence and hormones. And since most men don't progress beyond teenager maturity, it meets the fantasy needs of many. I usually avoid anything involving computers/hackers in the story. There complete bollocks. Including the Matrix.
How about when a bad guy asks a hacker how long it will take to crack something and they say 10 hours. The bad guy then puts the gun to his head and says you have 10 seconds and somehow he does it. :) :laugh:

It was a shame that he quit after 1 movie I would of liked of seen him in a couple other Bond movies. Daniel Craig is the best modern Bond, but still doesn't beat Connery

It was a shame that he quit after 1 movie I would of liked of seen him in a couple other Bond movies. Daniel Craig is the best modern Bond, but still doesn't beat Connery

Even Connery's plot lines weren't very good. Daniel Craig has had more down-to-Earth stories, none of that idiotic bowler hat weapon shit.
Daniel Craig was brought in when they rebooted the series as Pierce Brosnan made the films too much about the gadgets
