So, I received a mail from CodeProject.TV asking me to take a survey. The thing is, i never used that. most video plugins are blocked here at work (the main place I use CodeProject) and i can't use headphones here, so i don't feel able to take on a survey, but it got my interest. What is it all about? What are your thoughts on it?

I'm brazilian and english (well, human languages in general) aren't my best skill, so, sorry by my english. (if you want we can speak in C# or VB.Net =p) "Given the chance I'd rather work smart than work hard." - PHS241 "'Sophisticated platform' typically means 'I have no idea how it works.'"

I would have thought what you've just said in your post would be of interest to the survey.

I believe that there hasn't been the takeup in CP TV that there could have been. It's a shame really.

Thanks for giving CodeProject.TV a look. We poured our hearts and souls into it but we know we can do better and I would like to ask for 2 minutes of your time to help us make it better. The CodeProject.TV Feedback Survey There’s even a bribe: complete the survey and you’ll go into the draw for a $50 Amazon gift card. Only one person gets the card but everyone who takes the time to help us gets our eternal gratitude. We want to make CodeProject.TV a place you want to use, and ultimately a place you think of if you ever wanted to upload and sell your own training videos. Every bit of feedback, no matter how minor, helps.

Why? So you can pretend they're yours and type them into the survey? Hmm?

No, I don't answer anything that I don't have a strong and well based opnion, I just wan't to know how other members feel about the content and how it compares to the writen articles, as those articles are the main reason I created an account on CodeProject.

OK, if you want serious answers. No idea, I cannot access the content at work either. I filled in the survey though, although some of it my answers were wrong because of limitations in the survey, and in the last question filled out why I had not used the service. It is as useful for them to know why something is not being used as it is to know what those who are using it think of it. Probably more so, as only that will help to get more users.

Answering "I haven't used it" is good, useful feedback - it says that there is a market segment that either isn't aware of the product, or actively can't / doesn't want to use it. In the first case, it helps to know why - because your marketing isn't working and finding out why not could make it more effective in future. In the second case it's even more important - have you made assumptions about your product that either aren't true, or are perceived as not true. Personally, I haven't used it either: because I think video training is generally a waste of space, and a lot slower than my reading and comprehension speed.

When I got my Mondeo there was a side light bulb out. It took me half an hour, three forum threads, two pictorial guides and a YouTube video before I was able to replace it.

I figure I might as well share my spleen venting in the last box of the survey here. I forgot to snark about the email thanking my for giving the service a look despite, AFAIK, never having heard about it before today.

                    Quote:

A person talks at 100WPM, I read at 600. Even if I know a video has the answer to my problem that's a major time hit. Beyond that text is much easier to search/randomly access either via CRTL-F or by eyeball search at several times my reading speed. Nor can you copy code out of a video. As a result, while they might be useful for something like Photochop, for anything programming related a video tutorial is likely to be something I'd only consider watching if nothing else was available. PS since you insist on an answer to my ability to find videos despite my having said I never used the service you can have an Awful as a reward for bad survey design. Likewise for my suggestion of improving by nuking it from orbit. PPS insisting for an value in "if yes..." when I answered no is a level of incompetence I'd expect from expertsexchange.

 I think that says a lot about Mr Ford's design skills - you were clearly meant to replace the whole car... When my A160 engine warning light went on, I connected my OBD2 reader to it, determined it was the cam position sensor, found where it was on a website, found the part online, bought it (waited for delivery) and removed the old one and fitted a new, then tested and cleared the error all in less than half an hour (if you discount waiting for the post office and look at my time alone). A video tutorial would have taken longer to watch than to actually replace the part! BTW: If you haven't got a OBD2 reader, they can save you a fortune by pinpointing a problem before you take it to the garage. Mine is an Autel EU702 and cost less than an hour worth of labour charge - worth having if you use it twice!

Maybe, but the points in my PS/PPS were things that spoke to not having QAed anything but the "we love it" codepath. I hate software that obviously was never tested by anyone trying to screw with it.
