    What was lavabit?

A secure Email service: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lavabit[^] Apparently Edward Snowden used it from Moscow airport, which probably explains why the NSA et al. want their info.

If he had complied, and it had got out (as it always does) he'd have lost the business and his self respect. At least this way he gets to keep one of them.

I've seen articles that were trying to spell doom for all US cloud hosting as losing a lot of business due to the knowledge that the NSA can look at all of it. Even if it's not true, or you aren't hosting stuff even remotely interested to them, the damage is done. I doubt it will truly hurt any of the big ones.

I believe Adobe is testing the water for software rental via cloud and if successful other large companies will follow suit. Personally I hope it's a colossal failure, I will not rent software, I'll use what I've got until I die. Screw em!

As if the NSA needed the services to be hosted on the US to be able to see any info, have any of you typed "index of /picasa" on google? all the NSA need is a crawler.
