One of the dumbest writings one could come across

http://www.infoworld.com/print/225817[^] Most initiatives actually do not fail, they adopt to the wild changes of this dynamic tech world, which runs like the storms in Jupiter. In the process they simply morph into a different , better shapes. The far the companies could foresee the changes, the more gradual , stable & graceful the morph would be. That has happened to all the VB programmers now. I used to develop for C++/VB then morphed into C# desktop developer, now into the devices using C#-XAML. And if Microsoft could foresee things better, they would have titled all their product lines towards the cloud and web in a more graceful way. Not just MS it's a phase to go through for all the companies. If we have to say things were a failure, I must start from GWBASIC , PASCAL, Applets, Flash etc Man everything has it own time! "Andrew Oliver" failed.

Wait a minute. A failure resulted in a site dwelling for good over ten years and over 10 Million members! Many of these 10M members, write code for a living and majority work with .Net. What if MS had succeeded? They might replaced English with VB C#.

Ahem. According to Andrew Oliver[^]'s (admittedly very brief) biography, I wouldn't expect an unbiased viewpoint on anything Microsoft.
