well, 256SSD + 1TB HDD, 16GB of RAM, i7, GeForce GTX770 with 3GB of RAM not bad! I am saddened by the screen definition too... I want more pixels!!! (of note a friend remarked the wifi is weak too, it's 802.11b, 802.11ac would be way better!!) I have seen something that good at that price in a laptop very often... But please, prove me wrong! I want to see more models!!! :-D BTW $2500 I am happy to pay to replace my desktop machine! with a laptop finally acceptable!

It has 802.11n, which is 54mb/s (640MBit/s), unless you are doing a lot of network file transfers or have lightning fast internet (internet speed > network speed) then you are probably just fine with N.

yeah, it's a little heavy. I'm just looking for a laptop which can replace my desktop without regret with the added benefit of being more carryable! ^^ Anyhow, now I finally found one, I'll wait 1 or 2 years to see if there are any progress! ^^

What about the Zenbook UX301 or UX302 (dedicated graphics gpu) I am waiting for it to hit the UK in the next couple of weeks, but think that is going to be my next portable. It is already shipping in some area of the globe.

The monitor is 120Hz - completely flicker free, or potentially 3D. Nice!

It's a gaming laptop with a 75W GPU. If they tried shoehorning it into a thinner chassis it would either sound like a fighter jet lighting off the afterburners or overheat and throttle itself stupid.

Do you use external monitors or do you need fully self-contained? I used to go for the big laptop screen but found they were never big enough so ended up going the other way: getting the smallest I could to still make it usable (13" until I get some prescription glasses, I guess) and plug 'er into a whopping big monitor at home or the office. There's always a compromise, right? Good screen but painful to carry around, or a great traveler with a small screen.
