Just saw on the news tonight what they claim is to be built in place of the World Trade Center. Can't bothered looking for a link to a site on the web using my shitty dial-up connection. It's by some German guy whose name translated into English must mean dickhead. I mean what an abortion. Let's just leave the fucked up, blown up foundations and build over them and hope it's stable. Although on the one hand it seems like a nice idea (people's loved ones living on, will not be conquered, etc), it seems rather like an invitation for a later attack to me. Perhaps I'm too synical, but I would not like to be offered a job in that future building. :(

I have a problem with all modern architecture in general. I thougt the original WTC was as ugly as hell. Sky scrapers are always eye sores simply because of the demands of physics. None of the ornate elegance of earlier generations. Just glass and aluminum. Yuck. However, having said that, I have always been in favor of putting up another one just like the other one as a monument to what American is and, I hope, will forever be - a thriving center of free market enterprise and capitalism.
