The Greatest Nation On Earth (hmmm, sounds a lot like the Greatest Show on Earth, doesn't it? :-)) isn't driven by the best idea. It's driven by politics (both politicians and corporate), payoffs and profit taking, just like everywhere else. The best idea doesn't stand a chance. Hmmm, maybe someone should write a book about this... Chistopher Duncan Author - The Career Programmer: Guerilla Tactics for an Imperfect World (Apress)

Cripes, that is one ugly abortion of monument! It's a shame the Post doesn't include a "Comment on this Article" option. It is ok for women not to like sports, so long as they nod in the right places and bring beers at the right times.

Although on the one hand it seems like a nice idea (people's loved ones living on, will not be conquered, etc), it seems rather like an invitation for a later attack to me. Perhaps I'm too synical, but I would not like to be offered a job in that future building. :(
But I am fantastic in bed! And there are gorgeous women in all the houses I pass. And it would be wrong to leave them unsatisfied! So spam is the only way... - Paul Watson

And that may be a good thing, as it will likely remove a number of low-wage foreigners from behind the wheels of taxi cabs and put them behind shovels and rakes where they can do less damage.:) It is ok for women not to like sports, so long as they nod in the right places and bring beers at the right times.

Jewish not German I don't understand this - One is a religion, one is a nationality That's like me saying "I'm Agnostic, not English" (all the sources I've read say he's German, btw) [edit:] though the biog[^] on his site says he was born in Poland, became an American Citizen and now lives in Germany. I think he's just trying to confuse us to death -- Help me! I'm turning into a grapefruit!
Well, jews claim to be a part of Zion - a jewish nation. Or have I totally misunderstood this Zion thing? :) -- Uh huh. Yeah.

I expected them to turn it into a memorial site. I'm afraid I don't understand the obsession with building more towers there - but then I'm not an American so that shouldn't be a surprise! Anna :rose: www.annasplace.me.uk

sure, but I was under the (partially wrong(?)) impression that a) he has no german passport (anymore?) and b) "Jewish" does reveal more about him than "german"

My very own personal analysis (I've seen an US American on TV so I must know! ;) ) Start again, bigger, better: this is deeply rooted: beginning with the way "the west was won", up to the typical reaction after a hurricane or earthquake: "well build a new house. What else can we do?", to the five times millionaire, five times bankrupt types. (Yes, each and every US American is that way, and everybody who says otherwise is a terrorist) I do perceive it as kind of "sticky finger" to the Osama's out there: You can't hurt us, we will go on. Interesting question: Would you be willing to work there? I would feel creepy, and I guess In germany most people would "do it for the job", not more. My crystal ball tells me you won't have any problem to find offices moving in there, and they'll be proud of it.

I guess my European socialist liberal mind will never truly understand. peterchen wrote: I do perceive it as kind of "sticky finger" to the Osama's out there: You can't hurt us, we will go on. I'd feel like I was sitting in a graveyard, and "working" in such a place would be something I just couldn't bring myself to do. [sighist] | [Agile Programming] [doxygen]Fun Question: Since my ancestry is 87.5% Germanic in origin (Area that are now German speaking areas from Switzerland to the Dutch coast and some Prussian) with the rest Irish, Scottish, and English. Most were pre US revolution immigrants (1683-1725). Am I German? (Does it matter?:-D) One man I work with is 100% Irish heritage but was born and raised in Scotland and came to the US 8 months ago. Is he Irish or Scottish? Nothing important here.:rose: "I will find a new sig someday."

IMO the "where hes fromis not about passport or nationality, but cultural heritage. Does your collegue behave more like a Scotsman, or an Irish? If both and neither, probably "an Irish Scot" is the best description ;) [carefully checks that lauren's not around]
