On a scale of 1 to Canadian, how much do you like watching/playing hockey?
-
Being Canadian, it is clearly in my veins. I watch every single match of my beloved home team (Montreal) and I play at least once a week. How many of you out there like it as much (or not as much)? Any software dev who's also a hockey fan?
Over here the scale goes from England to Finland. It's fun watching live, not very fun on the telly and I basically never get to watch it live due to the exorbitant prices on tickets.

Well I am born and raised in Turkey. I didnt't have interest in hockey since 2006. As you know Turkey is not a country where hockey is popular. People love soccer here a lot and they are so passionate about it like Canadians are for hockey. But I have met my best friend in 2006 and since then I am a Canucks fan.. Well you must have guessed he is from Vancouver :) Right now I cannot watch all the games since I am back from LA and the matches are like at 4-5 AM. I watch them from tape or the highlights. Tho, when I was living in LA, I tried going every single game of Canucks vs Sharks/ Skanks.., Kings or Ducks..

Though I am British, I thoroughly enjoy it - keeping up with an 80-odd game regular season is hard with the time difference is very difficult though so I'd place myself somewhere just beneath US-ian interest, as I understand it's not as popular there as the land of Canadia ;P There is an ok-ish semi-pro league in the UK that garners a surprising amount of interest, most people would be surprised to find.

Are you referring to Field Hockey or Girly Hurling on Ice?

Well, as a product of the Great State of Massachusetts with strong Canadian heritage I must say that I enjoy Hockey from a safe distance. Seriously, I can't even watch it, I can't tell what's going on. What's with having only three quarters?! It's just a ridiculous game. I played floor hockey in elementary school, back when Bobby Orr trod the boards. Go Bruins! P.S. I just remembered something else. One year at a Christmas party where my father worked I was given a hockey stick. A wrong-handed hockey stick. Later, my friends complimented me on my back-hand. :~ P.P.S. I'd rather watch Hockey than Curling. And why is there a Hockey team here in Phoenix?
I heard if you buy a hockey ticket in Phoenix, they give you a meal combo, some Coyotes props and a key to the city. All that for 19 dollars. :)

One of my colleagues is a national referree for "women teams". Others play regularly.. I can't because of a broken knee (birth problem). I like watching it sometimes, prefer soccer (football) so..
The signature is in building process.. Please wait...
Where are you from?

I don't know how much it costs back where you are, but here the average price for a game ticket is around 75$. The games are always sold-out. ALWAYS.

I'd like to watch one of those, are they shown on TV or available on a webcast or something?

About the same, so I guess I'm less Canadian then you are.

2 - At least it's not Golf or Baseball.
Did you ever see history portrayed as an old man with a wise brow and pulseless heart, waging all things in the balance of reason? Maybe, but still not worth it. We do go to some Diamondbacks games with the meal combo though ($17?).

Yeah they've got such a hockey machine this year. 2nd place overall in the NHL at the moment I think. Great team.

When my older boys played baseball, I watched baseball. When the middle boys played ice hockey (insert sounds of money black hole sucking my wallet dry), I watched hockey. Now that most are older and no one is much playing anything, its hard for me to justify attending ANY professional sporting match - the prices are stupid silly, and I'd rather go sailing.

Never played but love watching the BlackHawks. Patrick Kane is freaking unbelievable - TV cannot do him justice.
