I was thinking more of this: IPoAC: IP over Avian Carriers[^]

Well it's the same as the money you pay for your telephone service. It funds the businesses that maintain the systems on which the internet runs. What did you think, that the entire system runs on thin air?

So you know that the backbone of the internet is carrier pigeons, and the telephone exchange is stuffed full of the little darlin's. When you "post" a message it is transcribed, attached to a pigeon and sent to the exchange nearest the website. It's response returns the same way. SO what do you think pays for all the bird seed if it isn't the money you pay for the internet?

...I must sadly report that a lot of these carrier pigeons end up in my city... they mustve lost track of where they were going. :sigh:

Maybe you do not understand this but these three letters ISP[^], do a lot more than get you a valid access point.

Computers have been intelligent for a long time now. It just so happens that the program writers are about as effective as a room full of monkeys trying to crank out a copy of Hamlet. The interesting thing about software is it can not reproduce, until it can.

He never claimed he did. ref[^] It was just political buzz used to burn him. And the fact that people to this day still think he claimed that shows it worked. Simple fact is though, he never claimed that.

And I didn't claim that he claimed to. It was a silly joke in a silly thread.

And I did not claim that you claimed that he claimed to. Just pointing out the facts :)

More to the point as far as I am concerned - why do so many people expect everything to be free nowadays? I write open source software and have a donation feature - after around 350,000 downloads of one of the applications I have had around 5 donations. That's why I use 'crappy advertising' if you don't want to pay for a service then expect to either get advertising or rubbish.
