Anyone else remember this power transistor?  I happened to come across a bug (# 53055) in TFS at work and immediately thought of my old friend. :) /ravi

That was one of my favorite workhorse devices, ideal for use as a pass transistor in linear regulated power supplies! Motorola offered its complement in PNP, as well, the MJ2955, which made push-pull power amplifiers a snap to design! They just don't make 'em like the used to. Oh, wait... yes, they do![^] :-D

Grin that you beat me by 6 7 days. I was playing with one a week ago.

Anyone else remember this power transistor?  I happened to come across a bug (# 53055) in TFS at work and immediately thought of my old friend. :) /ravi

I still have one (with its legs cut off) as a key fob. It was one of a total of eight that got fried in a regulated power supply / linear amplifier combination when a capacitor failed. That was in about 1973. I used to use them [almost] by the bucket full.
