Xamarin vs Eclipse/Java

I have been evaluating Xamarin for doing Android development in C#. Seems really good, but coming from doing Android dev with Eclipse and Java, I just cannot find any way to justify the $299 for Indie license or the $999 for Business. Anyone have any thoughts, suggestions, pro's or con's that they could share?

My only comment would be, if you are doing this development in order to make money then $299, or even $999, is probably a worthwhile investment.

Definitely! I really like it a lot. Especially the $999 Business license with its integration with Visual Studio.

Which means you also must pay a visual studio license? Or does it work with express editions?

The $999 is for Xamarin's Business version of their package. As far as for VS Express Editions, this is off Xamarin's blog site:
