It's merely a continuation of what has gone on for generations, my parents hated the music I listened to, my grand-parents hated the music by parents listened to...etc. This person is the face of current pop music and therefore a fun and convenient target. Far be it from me to question human nature, let us old people have our fun.

This isn't about what Justin thinks of your statements. Its about respecting others around you. I learned this the hard way... I was quite down on President George W. Bush when he was in office and after. I happen to be a fan of the current US president. That being said, others around me say many hateful things about a man I respect. While they have a right to their own opinion, I'm not a fan of it. More importantly, I realized how I may have made others feel when I was down on President Bush. Learning respect for others even when you disagree with them. Its one thing to make factual statements about aspects of his music, its another to declare it cr@p because you don't enjoy it. I'm not saying a better person, but I'm always trying to become a better person. Hogan

That may be true but you are talking about people that watch videos on youtube which have humiliating seens that often look quite painful. Society is fraked up. Great if you as an individual are beyond the majorities of the people in society. Its not just about the respect of a person though. The last few months of watching the "Console Wars" shows this. There were some crazy smart people involved in making and getting both the PS4 and XBox One to market. Yet the fanbois and haterz come out and thrash and trash with out any regard to them or these companies. While a company is certainly different than an individual, because of the separation (not being involved with the individual or company first hand) to many it is the same. IMO it is quite simply. If you are in the spotlight expect crap treatment. Don't like it, then get out (which is what he is doing). There is no way around it. There is always criticism and often people make professions out of doing so, and on top of that it is clear the people that do so understand they will receive criticism right back. But they have thick skins and can take it. Take TMZ for example. Many hate them. Yet they love what they do and will continue to do it.

How bally dare you! The Home Service is good and wholesome. Though they do listen to Magic a lot, which I find bearable.

There are some large threads on the forum recently hating on Justin Bieber. Some food for thought: * If you don't like his music, don't listen to it. * Just because he looks different than you doesn't mean you have to call him a girl. Remember, if you're reading this, you're in IT and you're probably weird, and probably awkward. * (For Parents) Remember what its like when somebody picks on your kid... * If he is retiring from music, I'm personally jealous! He got in, made tons of money and can now do whatever he wants. The rest of us will continue going to work. Hogan

I feel for you! ...my brother has three beautiful little girls (ages range from <1 to 5)... I don't know how he keeps his sanity listening to this music and watching princess cartoons all day.
In fairness, I'd just like to point out that Leia is now a Disney princess. :)

Everybody loves him. Especially since he said he quits. I have never heard his voice nor I want to. Although it's always fun to pick on him. I don't know why, it just is.

This is why I would be so happy if he'd retire from the business: I wouldn't have the read every day about his latest "mistakes" he did, like doing drugs or visiting a certain establishment. I don't care about him at all. In fact: I would be more than happy if everyone just stopped talking about him. This involves people like Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga, Michael Schuhmacher (nothing against him and I wish him all the best), etc. They are still just some random humans (true, maybe rich and famous) but they did nothing that really is of any importance to mankind (Yeah, I'm not really of any importance to mankind either, but you don't have to read about me in every newspaper around the world too). Sure, you can skip those article if you're not interested (which I do), but you'll still have read at least the headline and will already now "uuh... (s)he did that... well... that's great... now... why's that important again?" In fact, in my opinion, news about those so called celebrities should be removed from all general newspapers and they should let those magazines dedicated to unimportant gossip cover the stories about them.

Then you will need to learn to be satisfied with one page newspaper where half the page is covered with name of the newspaper. May be less. I don't know how much is printed about other stories.

I completely agree with you. Kids should not be given the platform to earn a fortune based on a dubious talent. If we banned kids from being infamous then they would risk less from being ridiculed by a large population of the sane world.

Did I miss something? I consider myself well read in this forum and don't think I've seen any Bieber-bashing... People who put themselves in the public spotlight need to develop a thick skin, somebody is going to hate even the most loved public figures. If it hurts you that people pick on him there are therapists who can help with that. The reason I wouldn't invite him to Thanksgiving dinner is his disrespect for other countries[^], and a feeling of entitlement[^] that he is above what people find socially acceptable[^]. I guess he's just another victim of affluenza[^], poor kid[^], he's going to have a tough life when his acting career fails...

Problem is the media is corrupt. How many media venues talked about the fact that Net Neutrality was killed yesterday? Yeah, not a single one of them. I am sure they all had some coverage of how the world is ending because of some douchey politician, or how people who stay tuned in to main stream media have higher paid jobs... But not a single one of them covered how their parent company is now about to block and throttle competing web sites depending on how much money you are giving them per month.

I pick on Justin Bieber because he is rich and famous and that is what us normals do. Make fun of celebrities. To be honest, and this is why there is a judicial distinction, making fun of a celebrity is not the same thing as making fun of a person. It gives us a safe vent. Besides, I secretly like the biebs; if I were ever to invade a small country and needed physiological warfare I would just play his songs on repeat.

That's what I tell people who complain about politicians and how screwed up the country is. People are screwed up by nature. If you have a government of the people, by the people and for the people, by definition you've pretty much guaranteed that you'll have a screwed up government. :-D

Never listened to his stuff but the media headlines about his "troubles" combined with the photos that make him look... ummmm... less than intelligent certainly give me a negative perception. All that being said... I agree with other posters: I don't care a bit about celebrities (Lohan, Kardashian, etc...) therefore there can be no "hate".
