I'm just learning Python and I've got to say I really like it but I still think C would be a good first language to learn because of all the embedded system out there and coming?

"Python, because you do not need a compiler and it's very VERY easy to run your programs and test" Just how difficult do these people find it to press F5? :omg: I assume they mean "You can type any old rubbish and it'll do something anyway" as opposed to the difficulty of actually having to make it understandable to the machine in some way?

Hmm, isn't that grow a generation of Script Kiddies, Python I have played with a bit, given my love(?) of languages that do something no matter what (VB) is it such a good idea, really??? The first programming language I felt 'happy' with was C, though I had lots of BBC Basic, AMOS & C64 Basic/Assembly experience...

Link doesn't work for me ... and Tiobe[^] has c at the top of the list ... and Ruby appears to be heading in the right direction ...

What say you??
I say that the 'results' of the article are meaningless given the collection methodology. As far as teaching languages, as far I have seen, C hasn't been up there for years, perhaps decades. Not in the US at least. Following is the only thing I use for language popularity. http://www.tiobe.com/index.php/content/paperinfo/tpci/index.html[^]
