    Isn't fat_boy in Europe though?

    1. If he is, isn't Europe even worse than the US? I haven't been there but from what I have heard morals almost don't exist there, in the media at least. 2. I have called him out on this. He makes posts where one minute he's in Europe and the next he's in California and then he's in Germany. Either he travels a ton or lives in his mother's basement and flies with Flight Simulator. :)

      1. Fair enough. 2. Ok, that's weird. Do you have any idea how we could find out?

Why is it weird? Europe is tiny, its easy to bounce around a nunmber of countries. As for the US I am sometimes working over there.

Germany is in Europe. Originally from UK, lived in France for a number of years, recently working on a contract in Germany, currently considering a contract in Belgium.

No, I was talking about you. I wasn't on here end of last year so missed the US thing. Many over there seem to think it strange when people travel to a different state, never mind a different country.

I'm beginning to wonder, however I don't consider any of your arguments valid, other species, so what! Just because it is practiced by a minority does not make it "normal", actually I'm beginning to dislike that word altogether. In desperation I will fall back to the evolutionary thing, homosexual relationships are not productive. And if you point out that we are already dramatically over populated I will ignore your argument with decorum :^) .

They may not be able to procreate with out medical intervention, but it seems there is a surplus of unwanted children and has been for quite some time.

Computers have been intelligent for a long time now. It just so happens that the program writers are about as effective as a room full of monkeys trying to crank out a copy of Hamlet. The interesting thing about software is it can not reproduce, until it can.

Thats because you speak a mixture of archaic English, and what you imagine is English, distilled from millions of immigrants learning it as a second language. This is why you think 'fanny' is not a womans c u n t. Believe me, it is. And why 'spunky' is good. It isnt. Being covered in male ejaculate is not good. Neither is beinf full of 'spunk'. it means you have given a lot of blow jobs, and swallowed. As for 'I could care less' you really dont het it at all. It is 'I could not care less'. Ie, I already care so little, I am not capable of caring any less aboyt it. As for the not using ensure as well as insure, fall, diaper, goten, done good, etc we will just put down to the archaic nature of US English.

But we aren't wild. Just because you think it is normal for animals does not make it normal for humans. If nature were OK with it there wouldn't be AIDS and other STDs. Sure seems like nature has a problem with it.

[check the forum title] yep this is the Soapbox so: I don't get the whole furore over Russia's gay laws. It seems to me the not being allowed to promote gay relationships to minors is a GOOD thing. If a teenager is so inclined then they will find out about their options as far as sexuality are concerned. If they are incapable of locating resources then they are not strongly motivated in the gay direction. And no I'm not homophobic, I don't give a rats arse what someones sexual preferences are just keep it to themselves. I would also like to include religion in the ban but I know I'd be pissing in the wind on that one.

As a straight man with gay friends I have thought about this and the conclusion I came to is: Gay people, like us straight people, generally want to not have to be secretive about their sexual preferences. However in some societies being open about their sexuality can been very dangerous - Iran hangs gay people. So the only way to get change is to publicly get a lot of attention. Just thinking of the UK, it's not a huge deal being gay nowadays(nowhere near what it was in the 80's and before) and as a consequence the gay community does not need to be as vocal because they are seen as part of society. I think that the promoting homosexuality to minors argument is largely a straw man that is being used to justify the anti-gay sentiment in much of Russian society. Most people would not want any form of sex promoted to minors, let alone gay sex in Russia, so using this argument is a cheap way of avoiding the real issue.

Promoting gayness to straight teens will not make them more gay. Likewise, promoting straightness to gay teens will not make them straight.

The Russian law is so loosely worded that it means any information including safety information. As someone who spent 20 years in the closet because of lack of information and piling any homophobic comment on top of the last to suppress every last ounce of self, I really feel for Russian youth. It is a horrible position to be in. Here's a blog post I wrote about 4 years ago: Coming out of the closet[^] In retrospect, that blog post was very diplomatic considering the psychological damage I did to myself through fear of being found out and beaten up, etc. Luckily, I'm now out, and in a loving "civil partnership" (a second-class marriage basically - But Scotland gets fully marriage equality soon. It's passed through parliament, just waiting for it to come into force) and I've not encountered much in the way of homophobia from friends and family (one of my Uncles refers to my husband as "Colin's friend") and I only had to block one "friend" from Facebook. Russia is also turning a blind eye to vigilante attacks against gay people. It doesn't help that they conflate homosexuality (same sex attraction) with paedophilia (kiddie fiddling).
