Since the last Windows updates (as of 2014-02-14), my macros in Visual Studio 2005 (yeah, I know...) ceased to work; they just won't do anything anymore. Repairing VS2005, reinstalling service packs etc. didn't help... good job MS, now I have to type so much more by hand. D'oh! Does anybody have experienced something similar? Though I suppose that the number of VS 2005 users is rather... limited. I have no clue which update might have caused this, but maybe someone else has a few more ideas than I have.

Was there supposed to be a question hidden in there somewhere? The fact that the big red button at the top of this forum says "Ask a Question" should be a hint that this isn't the right place for random rants. This should have been posted in The Lounge[^].

Maybe you should tell Microsoft about it.

Just for you, I added a more explicit question (which I thought was implicitly included).

I assume you have VS2005 SP1 installed? There was a problem when they released an update to .NET 2.0 back in 2007 which caused macros to stop working: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/928209[^] Any compilation errors in your macros? http://stackoverflow.com/a/20380211/124386[^] I can't check, because I don't have 2005 installed any more, but is there an option called "Allow macros to run"? http://forums.codeguru.com/showthread.php?469498-Visual-studio-macro-not-running&p=1811009#post1811009[^]

Checked all of those things, and I also repaired the installation of VS and reinstalled SP1 + Vista Fix; didn't change anything. Nor did anything change on my system - except the installation of the latest hotfixes for Windows. So I guess one of those was just a bit too hot...
